“Behind the Squeegee: Daisy Ridley’s Gritty Transformation in ‘Cleaner'”
Daisy Ridley stars in an action-thriller called “Cleaner” directed by Martin Campbell. She describes it as her toughest action project yet, featuring intense fight scenes with both male and female characters. While there’s no release date yet, Ridley confirms that the initial editing is complete.
Alongside her return to “Star Wars,” Ridley’s involvement in “Cleaner” stands out. The film, helmed by Martin Campbell, known for his work on Bond movies and “Mask of Zorro,” promises gripping action. Ridley, discussing the film at SXSW, praises Campbell’s direction and describes the plot involving eco-activists storming a building where she, a window cleaner with MMA skills, gets involved. She talks about the intense filming experience and her character’s emotional journey, particularly her relationship with her brother, played by a newcomer named Matt.
Despite Ridley’s experience with action from her time in “Star Wars,” she admits “Cleaner” presented new challenges, especially in portraying realistic female combat. She shares her doubts but expresses excitement about the film’s progress and eventual release.
“Magpie,” another film featuring Ridley, is currently showing at SXSW. More updates from the event are expected soon.
