The US has authorized the transfer of 25 F-35 jets and 2,300 bombs to Israel, despite facing criticism
The United States government has authorized the transfer of 25 F-35 warplanes and 2,300 bombs to Israel, as reported. These include more than 1,800 MK84 bombs and 500 MK82 bombs, constituting a significant arms package approved by Congress as early as 2008.
This decision comes amidst criticism from the Biden administration over Israel’s military actions in Rafah. Despite this, the US provides Tel Aviv with $3.8 billion in annual military aid, reaffirming its longstanding alliance.
Recently, the US abstained from a vote on a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, drawing criticism from Israel. However, some members of the Democratic Party in the US have urged President Biden to reconsider military aid to Israel.
While expressing continued support for Tel Aviv, President Biden also acknowledged the concerns of Arab Americans regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
According to Palestinian health authorities, the conflict has resulted in a significant loss of life, with 32,000 people reportedly killed in Gaza since the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.
